Its time to walk the walk
It’s 19:00 on Wednesday 21st September 2005, my bags are packed, I’ve checked my tickets and passport and thousand times; I’m ready to go.
I’ve been asked whether I ‘m nervous, excited, or anxious, the answer’s yes. I’ve planned this day for over 11 months;
I’ve trained hard but I guess I could have done more.
The charity money’s coming in, but we could do with more.
Am I ready? I don’t know, I’ve never done anything like this before. I can tell you one thing my bag is real heavy, my saving grace is that it’s full of food so over the days it will get lighter.
I plan to send an e mail at the end of each day to let you know how I’m getting on, that’s assuming that I get to the finish line each day.
To all those people that have helped me get this far; you have my undying gratitude (unfortunate choice of words) to all those people who have donated money to SAFE@Last many thanks (those who haven’t shame on you, get your hands in your pockets now)
The race starts on Sunday at 08:00 Tegypt time (06:00 British time) so when you get up on Sunday morning spare me a thought and wear your wristband for 7 days.
Will I do it? You’re bloody right I will,
A walk in the park
